'Scandal' season 5b spoilers: Jake is done with Olivia

ABC

Jake (Scott Foley) is most likely not going to get back together with Olivia (Kerry Washington) despite how events unfolded during the midseason finale, reveals actor Foley during an interview with TVLine.

The midseason finale for "Scandal" ended with Olivia and President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) breaking up and Jake murdering Rowan (Joe Morton) in cold blood. It was presumed that Jake might take Olivia's new status as a sign that he could spark a new relationship with her, but the actor explains that this is not happening in the immediate future.

He explains that there is a sense of pride knowing that Jake told Olivia directly that she had become the exact kind of woman her father [Rowan] had always wanted her to be. The main issue being that Olivia freed Rowan from prison only for Rowan to end up killing Jake's wife.

"He had tried to be the good friend throughout her ridiculous ponderings and questions about 'Should I marry Fitz?,' but once he found out that she let Rowan out and Rowan then killed his wife, I think he was done." the actor explained. "I was so proud of him for basically calling her out on years of shit."

Despite this, the actor also stated that there had been a lot of activity on social media to get the two back together. Jake and Olivia did have a short-lived relationship and her run with Fitz was officially over now, so there was a window of opportunity. The element that kills this opportunity is Rowan.

However, Foley did state that given some space and time Jake may become more open to conversing with Olivia again. At the time being though that might not happen due to his grief for losing his wife and his resentment towards Olivia and Rowan.

"Scandal" season 5 returns on Feb. 11.
