Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) will learn some information that will send him reeling in the upcoming episode of the ABC hit series "Scandal." Will it have something to do with Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Mellie (Bellamy Young)?

In "Even the Devil Deserves a Second Chance," Cartermatt reports that while on the process of winning back America's trust, the President will discover a shocking detail. If the revelation has something to do with his lover and his ex-wife's clandestine connection, viewers can expect some sparks flying in the next episode. Will Fitz finally learn that Liv is working with Mellie? If he does find out everything, then he will also know that she is also the one responsible for freeing Rowan (Joe Morton).

Last episode, Liv and the President were forced to get married to avoid her going into the impeachment trial. The judiciary committee was intent on proving Fitz unfit to head the country due to his illicit affair. Everything was all set up, when Liv panicked and made a deal with the devil. Liv asked Rowan to get the board to drop the case in exchange for his freedom from jail.

Liv took one step further and told Mellie about the plan. The former First Lady was the only one who could get Liv's father out of prison. Mellie told her point blank that it was impossible. But when she realized that there was no getting away from her lies in the hearing, she agreed to do it. By that time, Liv and Fitz were about to say "I, do" when Liv walked out of the wedding and asked that the ring be returned to Fitz.

The committee dropped the case, but now Olivia owes Mellie. To make matters worse, there is no telling what Rowan will do now that he is free. He may blackmail Liv by threatening to tell the President what she did. The fixer is certainly looking worried, as the synopsis reveals that she is "preoccupied keeping her own secrets." Pope & Associates is back on track with a new client, but Liv cannot focus on her job.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) is back and wants to get revenge after getting fired from her place as Chief of Staff. When Fitz struck a deal with Cyrus (Jeff Perry), he also promised him her position. Now that she has got her sights on a new agenda, who knows what she will do. Who will she target first, Fitz or Cyrus?

"Scandal" season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
