A new president and the identity of a dead body will be revealed in the premiere episode of "Scandal" season 6 in January.

ABC unveiled a new action-packed promo trailer for season 6, hinting that someone close to Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) will end up dead.

In the trailer, Olivia's staff members, Quinn (Katie Lowes) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz), were seen approaching a log cabin that suddenly blew up in flames. But the trailer did not reveal if one of them had been severely injured during the explosion or if anyone of them is in the body bag. However, it appears like the dead person was very important for Olivia since she was seen leaning towards President Fitz' (Tony Goldwyn) for comfort.

The trailer also revealed that the first 10 episodes of the season premiere will be filled with a lot of unexpected revelations. One of them is the result of the US presidential election, where President Fitz's wife, Mellie (Bellamy Young), and Olivia's ex-lover, Jake (Scott Foley), ran for the presidential and vice presidential posts.

In one of the scenes in the trailer, Mellie and Olivia will have a heated conversation where the former US First Lady-turned-Senator will reveal that she is already done running for the presidency. But the White House crisis manager will tell her that she is still running the show.

Also, former civil rights activist and one of Olivia's staff Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.) is seen having a steamy scene with an unknown woman. But based on the events in season 5, Marcus could be finally starting a new relationship with Mellie, while the former First Lady was busy campaigning for the elections.

The synopsis for the premiere episode of "Scandal" season 6 that was posted by Breathe Cast reads: "A cabin in the woods explores as Huck and Quinn approach it, Olivia Pope and Mellie Grant feel the pressure of the Presidential Election, and a new president is about to be introduced."

ABC will release air the season 6 premiere of "Scandal" on Thursday, Jan. 19.
