The last of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch might have been seen this season as Seahawks general manager John Schneider believes the star rusher is close to leaving the sport. 

Lynch was limited to only seven games (career-low) in the 2015 National Football League (NFL) regular season because of an abdomen injury and during his return in the Divisional Playoffs was a non-factor. 

"I know that we're going to treat him with as much respect as we possibly can here, and give him a little leeway to kind of find his way in terms of what he wants to do," Schneider said in a radio interview, according to ESPN. 

Schneider then stated, "But I'm under the impression that he's leaning toward retirement."

The Seahawks general manager also had another radio interview last Friday and aired the same sentiment regarding Lynch's career, ESPN added in its report. 

Schneider again shared that he believes Lynch is getting closer to retirement, although he added, "But I think with Marshawn you never really know."

Lynch joined Seattle from the Buffalo Bills in 2010 and since then has become an important piece to the team's offense. 

Unfortunately, the injury limited the 29-year-old to only 111 carries for 417 yards and three touchdowns this regular season. 

In Lynch's comeback during their Divisional Playoffs loss to the Carolina Panthers, he failed to have an impact in the game, having only six carries for 20 yards. 

Losing Lynch will be a challenge for the Seahawks but in his absence during the regular season, undrafted rookie running back Thomas Rawls stepped up and was playing great before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. 

If Lynch decides to retire, Rawls is expected to be the successor of the role he will leave with the Seahawks. 

But as of now, the five-time Pro Bowler has yet to make a decision regarding the future of his professional career.
