Seattle Sounders FC are again in search for a victory and are looking to capture it against their rivals Portland Timbers when they play at Centurylink Field Sunday. 

Just when the Sounders were trying to bounce back after a five-match losing streak in Major League Soccer (MLS), they are again on the losing track after a 2–0 defeat suffered against Real Salt Lake (RSL) in their last league match. 

Before the recent defeat to RSL, Seattle dominated Orlando City SC 4–0 to end a five-match losing slide that saw the club lose to the Chicago Fire (1–0), Colorado Rapids (1–0), Montreal Impact (1–0), Vancouver Whitecaps FC (3–0), and defending MLS champions LA Galaxy (3–1). 

The Sounders are currently sitting on the seventh spot in the Western Conference with 35 points (11–13–2) tied with the Houston Dynamo (9–10–8), as both clubs are three points behind the San Jose Earthquakes (38 points) who are on the sixth spot in the conference. 

In their first meeting this season in the MLS, Seattle's Clint Dempsey netted the lone goal for a 1–0 victory last April but Portland bounced back in their second league match last June as they won 4–1. 

The Sounders are looking to win in their third match against Portland in the MLS so they can inch closer to the sixth seed in the West and strengthen their playoff chances. 

Meanwhile, the Timbers are on a four-match unbeaten streak but would like to seal a win against Seattle after their previous MLS match facing the Houston Dynamo ended in a 2–2 draw. 

Portland is currently the fifth-seeded club in the Western Conference with 40 points (11–8–7) tied with Sporting Kansas City (11–7–7). 

A loss against the Rave Green this Sunday would not really hurt their playoff chances but the Timbers would love to secure a win to break their tie with Sporting KC and move up the standings.
