Drinking coffee is actually good for your body, according to some research. A recent study showed that caffeine actually provides more benefits than risks, and there have been plenty of scientific studies undertaken to prove this claim.
Experts stated that drinking at least three to four cups of coffee, or about 350 to 400mg a day, provides the optimum health benefits. The findings were published in an umbrella review of coffee consumption on the British Medical Journal.

"We've always known that caffeine has cognitive-enhancing effects, but its particular effects on strengthening memories and making them resistant to forgetting has never been examined in detail in humans," the John Hopkins study authors revealed in the press release. "We report for the first time a specific effect of caffeine on reducing forgetting over 24 hours."
Another study has also showed that drinking at least four cups of coffee a day helps lower the risks of Parkinson's disease development in old age, as well as lessen the symptoms of the disease's progression.
Caffeine also helps burns fat, according to one study that looked into its effects on obesity. As a thermogenic substance, caffeine actually converts calories into energy.
There are, however, some factors to consider when drinking coffee. As it comes from a variety of sources, the caffeine content might differ as well.
