'Sonic All-Stars Race 3' game rumors update: New Sonic game now in development

New racing game for "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise secretly underway, rumors say.Nintendo's YouTube Channel

"Sonic the Hedgehog" is something of an icon in this day and age. Many are still fond of the speedster even after years since it initially launched. One evidence of such is the excitement of fans regarding rumors of a possible new game to feature the lovable hedgehog.

For some time now, rumors have been spreading around every nook and cranny of the interwebs, detailing game developer Sumo Digital, who previously produced past game titles "Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed" and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing", to be working secretly on a new kart-racing video game for SEGA.

The speculations on the particular game first emerged when a self-professed fan uncovered a lead regarding the game's development. The lead in question are slides believed to be from Sumo Digital itself, which indicates several new top-secret projects that are currently underway. In it, is an unnamed karting game outlined as "an established global IP", and an "original development."

Seeing as the presentation's slides are questionable and lacking in authenticity, many disregarded the clue as merely a make-believe story. However, another potential evidence that supports the earlier claim surfaced in the form of toy company Zappies.

Zappies are currently working on a new line of racing toys for the rumored title, tells a source who managed to get information on the project during Spielwarenmesse 2018 -- a toy fair in Germany. In addition to this, Diamond Select, another famous toy maker, recently revealed that they are also developing a toy version of a track featured inside the much-speculated game.

No matter how believable these speculations and rumors are, fans should take these with a grain of salt as official announcements and confirmations have been scarce when it comes to the new "Sonic the Hedgehog" karting title.

But despite its uncertainty, fans can still look forward to the possibility of the game being released as SEGA has previously mentioned that it will be giving out juicy details on what is coming next to fans of the blue speedster through an SXSW panel scheduled on March 13 of this year.
