Sony hasn't forgotten the faithful lovers of the Walkman. During the CES 2015 in Las Vegas, the titanic tech company reintroduced the world-renowned audio device that was once the coolest gizmo must-have back in the day. However, to get the majorly revamped gadget, buyers will have to cope with the mega price tag that goes along with it. 

The Sony ZX2 Walkman has not failed to bring the flashbacks but it may have also managed to put off consumers with its unbelievably high value of $1,199.99. Sony defends and justifies the price with the promise of an optimal audio experience. In a news release, Sony guaranteed that the all-new Walkman "can reproduce master quality recordings just as the artists originally intended." Its sound of excellent clarity and highest quality will make the hole it burned in the pocket less and less of a bother. 

The aluminum-caked gizmo can keep songs in "high resolution." That is saying something because, according to Time, a standard song file can be as big as 150 MB.

"Converting analogue sound to digital formats like CD and MP3 can compromise the purity of the original signal. Hi-Res Audio retains far more detail during the analogue-to-digital conversion process, for a more authentic, emotionally involving musical experience," Sony touted.

Apart from that, the high-definition digital music player was crafted with outstanding power, treating audiophiles to 60 hours of MP3 jamming and listening as well as high resolution playback that can go on for more than a day before it runs out of juice. Its storage capacity is up to a whopping 128 GB, which can fit about 1,700 songs. That should keep one's melodic self busy for a while. 

In addition, the Sony ZX2 Walkman supports WAV, AIFF, FLAC and Apple Lossless. There is NFC for connecting speakers and phones and there is Bluetooth connectivity for wireless streaming. 

Last year, Sony revivified the portable music player with the NWZ-A17 Walkman, which only costs $300. The spanking new Sony ZX2 Walkman will hit the market in spring this year.
