Sony Mobile

Technology companies Sony Corporation and Motorola Mobility recently unveiled their new smartphone offerings, the Xperia M5 and the Moto X Play, respectively. According to Techno Buffalo, Motorola's Moto X Play is currently available for pre-orders in the United Kingdom.

Here's the difference between the two new smartphones in terms of the specifications and features.

According to GSM Arena, the Moto X Play sports a 5.5-inch capacitive display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It has a powerful 21-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

On the other hand, the Sony Xperia M5 offers a smaller 5.0-inch display screen with the same 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. In terms of shooting features, the Sony Xperia M5 seem to have the upper hand as it has a slightly higher 21.5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a sharper 13-megapixel front-facing shooter that should be useful when taking selfies.

Inside, the Moto X Style is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 processor, a 2GB RAM, and up to 32GB internal memory storage. For the Xperia M5, it has a Mediatek MT6795 processor, a 3GB RAM, and up to 16GB built-in memory that can be expanded up to 200GB via microSD card. The Moto X Play can only be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

In addition, the Moto X Play features a massive non-removable 3,630 mAh battery, while the Xperia M5 only has a non-removable 2600 mAh battery.

The report by Techno Buffalo adds that the Moto X Play will not make its way into the U.S. market; however, it will make its way into other international markets such as Europe, Canada, and Latin America. Fortunately, Motorola's other device, called the Moto X Style, will arrive in the United States under the name "Pure Edition," alongside the latest Moto G (3rd Gen) handset.
