It is almost time for Sony to release its next smartphone offering and word has is that the Sony Xperia Z5 could be out by September.

The mentioned period gets in line with the usual six-month interval that Sony has been observing in launching its devices. However, there are some who are a bit apprehensive on how the upcoming device could fare in the market, given that other players are also set to release new smartphones around the same period.

According to rumors, the Xperia Z5 will offer a slightly larger 5.5-inch HD display (1080x1920 resolution) and a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi). Although it remains to be seen how that slight bump in screen size would perform, it may all depend on the supporting specs the device will have in tow.

Xperia Z5 will reportedly include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which will be backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. And as with most Sony smartphones, all eyes will be on the camera too.

As far as the Sony Xperia Z5 is concerned, it is anticipated to come with a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera and a somewhat improved 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

Rumors suggest that aside from these specs, the Xperia Z5 will also have a fingerprint scanner upfront, a first as far as Sony's smartphone line is concerned.

With those in play, could the Sony Xperia Z5 survive the onslaught of new devices from other phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung, which are likely to release their next smartphones around the same period as well?

Aside from the two leading brands, word has it that LG could also be launching its highly touted "killer phone."

It would be best to consider that the specs are not yet final until Sony issues a formal confirmation. They could be better or perhaps be lacking some added features to make the device formidable as September stands to be a month filled with new smartphones for the consumer market.

Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that Sony will be unveiling two new high-end smartphones this September at the IFA 2015.
