Whenever a leak about a release date for a popular game pops up, fans easily pick it up and spread the news. It is usually retailers who give a sort of leak, and it looks like Insomniac's exclusive PS4 game, "Spider-Man," is no exception to this.

The leak first came from a Danish game retailer called, CoolShop. According to the site, it placed Sept. 28, 2018 as its release date. At this point, like any other retailer, it may be just a placeholder date. However, it may seem quite a too specific date for it to be just a placeholder date.

According to Comicbook.com, a placeholder date is usually set on the last day of the year or the last day of the season. Sept. 28 does not fall on either. A simple check on the calendar would also show that Sept. 28 falls on a Friday, which is quite usual for a game release. That said, fans may easily believe it given that it also makes sense as it should be releasing within the year.

This is also in consideration that the retailer has also successfully predicted the release of "Grand Theft Auto V" and some of the game's major updates online months before either was even announced. Earlier this month, they even leaked the release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2" for a June 8, 2018 release date.

That said, Rockstar Games has not confirmed it yet, and it will not be likely for either developer Insomniac Games or publisher Sony to confirm this Sept. 28 release for "Spider-Man." For now, fans do know that it will contain loads of gameplay, so maybe the long wait, assuming the leak is right, would be worth it.

For now, despite CoolShop's reputation for leaking "GTAV," fans should still take this with a grain of salt. As it will get released this year, hopefully, either Insomniac or Sony should be announcing more news about the game.
