'Star Wars: Battlefront' playtests set for April 10

The global unveiling of the upcoming game "Star Wars: Battlefront" will take place at the Star Wars Celebration event to run on April 16 to 19. However, for hardcore fans who want to get the first look at one of the most anticipated titles of the year ahead of everyone else, Electronic Arts is offering playtest sessions.

According to EA, the playtests are open to all types of gamers, but they would need to be near the playtest areas, which will be at the EA Redwood Shores in San Francisco and EA Canada in Vancouver. The sessions will last from three to four hours, and will happen on April 10.

No walk-ins, though. Before the actual date, players need to sign up on the respective websites for either the California or Canada locations. They will then receive an email update notifying them if they have been selected to test the game. The details about the playtest sessions will also be given, and players also need to sign a non-disclosure agreement to make sure that no detail about the upcoming game leaks prior to its official launch.

Aside from getting a first look and being the very first ones to experience "Star Wars: Battlefront" for the first time, those who are selected to try out the game would also be given two free EA games of their choice.

Since all of the players will have signed non-disclosure agreements, it is expected that there will be no details about the game to be made available outside of its unveiling, which will take place during the Stars Wars Celebration event almost a week after.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" is to be published by Electronic Arts and is being developed by DICE, which is also the company behind the "Battlefield" franchise and the most recent "Battlefield: Hardline" title. No details have been announced yet on the upcoming title's release date, but it is expected to be launched for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC before the holidays.
