Stranger gives fast food employee a $10,000 fur coat

Cheryl Semien was working on her birthday as a Whataburger cashier when she received a mink coat worth thousands of dollars from a total stranger.

The act of generosity happened on Wednesday, December 17. Semien, a long-time Whataburger employee, told ABC 13 Eyewitness News she was at work at the Whataburger on US 90 in Liberty, Texas around 10am when a customer she has never seen before pulled up to the drive-thru window.

Said Semien, "She was a perfect stranger, I didn't know this lady from nowhere. I didn't see her come through my drive-thru window as long as I've been at Whataburger for nine years."

Semien said she casually complimented the woman. To her surprise, the customer took off her fur coat and handed it to her.

"The lady said, 'That's a beautiful coat,' and she was so sweet," said the woman behind the magnanimous gesture who was tracked down by Eye Witness News and asked to be identified only as Nadine. "So I took it off and handed it to her through the drive-thru window."

"She didn't ask for it," Nadine added. "But she would have loved to have had one."

Asked about her random act of kindness, Nadine said she only did what "felt right." She also disclosed that the coat is worth around $10,000.

"I do fun things. It makes me happy," Nadine said when asked what compelled her to give the precious jacket away. 'Extending your hand in any manner makes people happy, and it will make you happy in the long run.'

Needless to say, the receiver of the gift was ecstatic.

"I almost passed out, for real," Semien told ABC News.

Semien's coworkers said she could not stop screaming after receiving the fur coat.

"It was like she'd won a million dollars," one of them said.

Filled with gratitude for the lavish birthday gift she received, Semien said, "God watches you. God is watching every step you make."

Semien said she cannot wait to wear the coat with a nice pair of boots.
