Mark Ruffalo apparently wants a change of company from the "Avengers" ensemble to the nerd gang of "Stranger Things," as the actor has expressed enthusiasm for the Netflix show and wanted in.

Good Morning America's interview with the children cast of "Stranger Things" last month saw Mike's actor, Finn Wolfhard's absence. "Stranger Things" fans, Ruffalo, who was on the show for a separate interview, asked if he could instead be Mike, even joining the cast on the said interview in Wolfhard's stead.

The Hulk actor then took pictures together with the cast with the caption "Can I be the new Mike?" Website Comicbook dwelled on the possibility of Ruffalo replacing Mike, though this could require a lengthy explanation from the showrunners. In particular, they debated how the show would justify how Mike went from a pre-adolescent boy to a fully grown man.

The official Twitter account of "Stranger Things," in the meantime, was quick to respond to Ruffalo's query, stating that Mike is irreplaceable. The account went on that should Ruffalo want to stand in for Wolfhard as Mike, he has to be able to replicate the kid's brooding scowl, which could be difficult for the Hulk actor's "Mr. Nice Guy" chops, though he might be able to pull it off as the Hulk.

Fans of both Ruffalo and the Netflix show, despite the joke, considered the possibility, with some even proposing roles for the Hulk actor which would fit in with "Stranger Things." One fan suggested that Ruffalo can play Jim Hopper's (David Harbour) long lost brother, which he was positive would work. This drew the attention of Harbour, who agreed that Ruffalo could pull off Hopper's older and more successful brother, Hank.

Still, fans should not get too excited about the prospect as there has been no official announcement from the Duffer brothers (show writers) and Netflix itself. Season 3 of the show may well be underway and can be expected to arrive by October next year.
