'Street Fighter V' news: Learn more about the gameplay system of upcoming game

"Street Fighter V" is Capcom's latest attempt to reinvigorate the iconic fighting game franchise, and with such a huge task in front of them, the developer has opted to take on risks via significant changes.

Arguably the most significant change found in "Street Fighter V" is its revamped fighting system.

Instead of updating the "Focus" system, Capcom has opted to feature a new way of fighting that utilizes what is known as the "V" system.

Hardcore Gamer has taken on the task of breaking down the new fighting system to its most fundamental elements, with those being the V-Skills, the V-Gauge, the V-Reversals, and the V-Triggers.

The V-Skill is pretty straightforward as it is simply a move players can use at any time. V-Skills are also unique to each character inside "Street Fighter V."

V-Gauges are a little more complicated, but essentially, these are meters that players can fill up to pull off two other moves inside the game.

With at least one bar of the V-Gauge available, players can pull of a V-Reversal, which as its name suggests, is a counterattack.

The V-Trigger, on the other hand, will use up the entire V-Gauge and it is basically just a stronger version of the V-Skill.

Players can fill up their V-Gauges either by executing V-Skills or by taking damage over the course of a fight.

Aside from a redesigned battle system, "Street Fighter V" also looks as though it will be paying more attention to creating a cohesive in-game storyline.

In an interview with Hadoken, producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that there would be a prologue included inside "Street Fighter V" right from day one.

The prologue is designed to introduce players to the characters inside "Street Fighter V."

Ono has also indicated that more details about a "large-scale narrative" will be made available in the future.

"Street Fighter V" will be released on Feb. 16.
