Strong start for Kristian Stanfill’s new album, Mountains Move

He’s fresh from leading worship in front of more than 22,000 devoted college students at Passion 2011 this month and his second album release, Mountains Move, is close to topping the US Christian music charts.

With more than 6,000 copies sold since its release last week, Mountains Move is at No 3 on the Contemporary Christian SoundScan chart and No 2 on the Current Christian/Gospel Digital Albums chart.

The album saw him collaborate with award-winning songwriter Jason Ingram and Rusty Varenkamp and the first single release from Mountains Move, ‘Day After Day’, is a great pop/rock worship song with a sound that will resonate with Chris Tomlin and Tim Hughes fans.

It’s an obvious choice for the first single release from the album, capturing the heart of Stanfill’s music and setting the tone for the rest of the album.

He sings, “The fear of man and what they plan will fade when we know you alone are God of everyday. Like the flowers man will rise and fall but you are everlasting, never-ending, God eternal.”

Mountains Move follows the release of Stanfill’s five-track EP Day after Day last September, which previewed three songs from Mountains Move.

It’s been onwards and upwards for Stanfill since he first introduced listeners to his music in 2009 with his debut album Attention.

He continues to perform worldwide with Passion, having made a particularly strong impression among young Christians with his storming anthemic single ‘Say,Say’ from the Passion Awakening album.

He currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where he serves as worship leader for Louie Giglio’s Passion City Church.
