After releasing the highly anticipated "Super Mario Maker" platform game last weekend, Nintendo made a surprising announcement: the side-scroller game creation title will also be released as an expansion pack for the best-selling "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS.

GameSpot recently posted a gameplay trailer for the upcoming "Super Mario Maker"-inspired stage, which is set to arrive on Sept. 30 for both versions of "Super Smash Bros." Based on the trailer, the new "Super Mario Maker" level will be highly dynamic since its layout will change during each play.

The trailer also shows that the "hand" in the "Super Mario Maker" level may possibly appear to re-animate the blocks that were destroyed by the players.

The new "Super Mario Maker" level will be included in the present "Super Smash Bros." game for only $2.50 each, or users can purchase both platform versions for just $3.50.

But that is not the only planned DLC for Nintendo's popular fighting video game.

The ongoing poll featured on the official Super Smash Bros website in Japan invites players to nominate their favorite characters to join the battles as a playable character. Each player can nominate only one character, but this does not mean that they are restricted to only those created by Nintendo.

The poll, dubbed as the "Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot," began on April 1 and will conclude on Oct. 3. It means that a new character will be added in the game sometime in October.

Earlier expansion packs released for "Super Smash Bros." for both the Wii U and 3DS platforms brought several playable characters, including Mewtwo from "Pokemon," Lucas from "Mother 3," Roy from "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade," as well as the legendary "Street Fighter" character Ryu.

More details about the upcoming "Super Smash Bros." DLC pack are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
