"Supernatural" returned from its hiatus this week with the episode "The Devil in the Details." The episode signaled a return to the series' humorous origins as Sam argued with Lucifer as the devil insisted on rehashing Sam's finest moments, only to taunt him about not being the man that he used to be.

But fans of the CW show are in for more treats as showrunner Jeremy Carver previewed what's up ahead for the Winchester brothers as they try to save the world from the Darkness.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Carver said that they're very happy about the second half of season 11. In episode 12, fans will see how Alex and Claire are doing now that they're living with Sheriff Jody Mills.

"We're going to visit those three to see actually what kind of family they have or have not become," said Carver, revealing that the episode will be "a funny and emotional" one as viewers see the three women trying to get along while they live under one roof.

Jim Beaver and Steven Williams will also be reprising their roles as Bobby and Rufus. Bobby was last seen back in season 10 when he helped the brothers fight Metatron, while Rufus last appeared in season 7 of the show. The actors will be appearing in flashbacks in episode 16.

"We're going to see the boys come across the case and realize they are investigating a case that was investigated years earlier by Rufus and Bobby," said the showrunner.

Meanwhile, one particular episode that Carver is very excited about shows the brothers going back in time.

"We will be essentially spending an episode on a World War II-era submarine with American soldiers at the time," he revealed, adding that the episode is their own version of the 1981 film "Das Boot."

"Supernatural" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
