'Teen Wolf' season 5B news: New trailer showcases new villain

MTV

MTV has launched a brand new five-minute sneak peek trailer for "Teen Wolf" season 5B. It reveals not only a little bit of the upcoming plot and character developments but also a look at the brand new villain, which is neither chimera nor werewolf.

As stated in a report from the IB Times, the new villain appears at the tail-end of the trailer where it kills a man and later attacks Deputy Clarke (Benita Robledo). Unlike other creatures shown in the series, the creature is noticeably larger and also more aggressive.

While Clarke gets free, the creature ends up chasing Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Hayden (Victoria Moroles) through the woods. After jumping over a small cliffside to reach the other end of the woods, Liam suddenly pulls Hayden down, letting them fall to what is presumed to be a safe hiding spot Liam spotted while looking down.

While it isn't stated in the trailer, it is heavily implied that this is indeed the Beast of Gevaudan. The ancient evil was mentioned prior in the midseason finale.

However, not all of the trailer focuses entirely on the new villain.

The opening scenes showcase a few plot details such as the fact that Hayden didn't tell Clarke that she died and instead states she was Liam the whole time.

The report also points out that Liam and Hayden won't be the only ones the Beast will be chasing. Back in October, showrunner Jeff Davis explained that Parrish (Ryan Kelley) would be facing against the Beast as well. There is also the issue of the conflict between Scott (Tyler Posey) and Stiles (Dylan o'Brien).

"Teen Wolf" season 5B premieres this Jan. 5.
