'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution' news: Upcoming DLC to also land as arcade expansion
Initially, it was rumored that the upcoming "Fated Retribution" expansion for "Tekken 7" will only be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, it is now confirmed that the DLC will also land in the arcade versions of the title and may even be released much earlier than its console counterpart.
According to Yibada, a recent announcement by Japan-based arcade gaming company AM-Net mentioned a schedule for the arcade release of "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution," at least in Japan. Reportedly, arcade owners will need to place pre-orders for the updated version with the "Fated Retribution" already installed until March 18. As for the release, it is said that the upcoming arcade expansion will roll out by July.
Should this be true, the arcade version of "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" will release ahead of the console versions, as the industry follower stated that the PS4 and Xbox One versions will roll out later this year.
Meanwhile, Vine Report said that the upcoming expansion is looking more polished, based on the new trailer launched at the recently held Japan Amusement Expo 2016. In the footage, crossover character Akuma is highlighted, with the video showcasing his matches with different fighters.
Akuma is the only crossover character in "Tekken 7," being a fighter from another successful brawler game, "Street Fighter." While being from a competitor title, publisher Bandai Namco revealed that Akuma has strong ties to "Tekken 7," being known to the Mishima family. An earlier trailer even hinted that Akuma knows both Heihachi and the Mishima matriarch, Kazumi.
Aside from Akuma, another character recently revealed to be present in "Fated Retribution" is Nina Williams. Although a franchise veteran, Williams was absent in the original roster for "Tekken 7" and was only recently added in the upcoming expansion.
