News that "Tekken 7" would be coming to consoles was met by delight among fans, but despite the announcement, there's still a great deal of uncertainty regarding the title.

The biggest mystery for now is when the console version of "Tekken 7" may actually be released.

Rumors suggest that the fighting game will be released sometime in 2016, although this has yet to be confirmed, according to N4BB.

It's unclear exactly why the game's developer, Bandai Namco, has yet to attach an official release date to "Tekken 7," although that may be related to the many aspects of it that are still in flux.

For instance, it's also been rumored that "Tekken 7" will be playable via the PlayStation VR. This rumor also remains unconfirmed, and even optimistic predictions regarding virtual reality (VR) support are careful to point out that players will not exactly be engaged in first person fighting via the headset. Instead, the rumors suggest that players will only be able to tweak and customize characters by using the VR headset.

The exact roster that will be featured in "Tekken 7's" console ports also remains uncertain.

While a roster of about 28 characters is expected to be featured in the console ports of "Tekken 7," there are still questions surrounding the availability of one particular character.

As Forbes reported, "Street Fighter's" Akuma will be playable in an updated version of the game known as "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution."

Currently, the version of "Tekken 7" that includes Akuma is only scheduled to be made available in arcades around Japan.

It's unclear if Akuma will also be included in the day one edition of "Tekken 7" that is coming to consoles or if he will be added later on as part of an update.

If Akuma is set to be part of the day one roster of "Tekken 7's" console ports, then that may push the release date of the game even further back.
