Clarke (Eliza Taylor) may have saved the world from A.L.I.E. in the third season finale of "The 100," but problems continue to arise before she can announce that the world is a safe place to live in in season 4.

In the second part of the season 3 finale, Clarke managed to enter the City of Light to turn on A.L.I.E.'s kill switch. But before she can finish her task, the artificial intelligence showed her the ugly truth that the world is slowly being eaten by the remaining nuclear power plants built during the war that almost wiped out the human population.

Based on A.L.I.E.'s calculations, the Earth will not be a safe place to live in six months after all the nuclear plans broke down. According to the artificial intelligence, the only way to ease everyone's pain is to come to the City of Light. But Clarke refused, saying that the only way to ease the pain is to overcome it.

This means that the battle of the remaining Earth inhabitants, which are composed of the people from Arkadia where Clarke and her friends belong as well as the remaining Grounders, is far from over.

Taylor told E! News that she believes that things could get even darker when the series returns for season 4.

"Every time I think we couldn't get any darker, we just do. It's like, OK, so my mom is stabbing me in the chest now. It's mental," the actress said. However, she believes that each sacrifice made on the show is never wasted.

"I'm so impressed by everything we go through on this show. [It] always ends up being kind of like, in a weird way, a message, a positive message, for the people just trying to survive. Like, sacrificing everything for the greater good and being there for your friends, which sounds so cheesy, but I really do believe that's actually what it boils down to."

But the wait for the next installment could take a long while, since The CW has yet to announce the premiere date of "The 100" season 4.

Based on speculations, fans of the series could possibly wait until 2017 since the third season premiered in January this year.
