"The Banner Saga 2" from developer Stoic and publisher Versus Evil was originally meant to release before the end of 2015, but according to a recent report from EuroGamer the game has since been delayed and will now release in Q1 2016.

The report cites that a source from Versus Evil confirms the information, although no details were given regarding which platform the game is set to release on first. "The Banner Saga 2" is scheduled to launch on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, although there are no confirmations if it will release on PC first or if it will launch on all three simultaneously.

An official representative from Versus Evil has since updated EuroGamer and stated that progress on the game is still moving forward and that gamers who attended both PAX and Gamerscom have seen the game in action. Versus Evil also explains that a more specific launch date will be announced "when the time is right."

One possible reason for the delay would be the work being put on the console port of the first title. "The Banner Saga" was released solely for the PC in 2014 and was later ported to mobile devices. At the moment, the developers are working on a console port for the PS4 and Xbox One.

"We are currently wrapping up development for the first game now. The delays in the console is mainly game development fun, but also the team has spent time working on console specific controls to make it perform as a console game, more than just a port."

The representative also explained that the upcoming "The Banner Saga" board game, titled "Banner Saga Warbands," being developed by MegaCon, is not affecting the development on the first game's console port or the second title currently in development as it is being handled by a different team all together.

The information has since been posted on the official Facebook page for "The Banner Saga."
