'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 episode 9 spoilers: Sheldon eaten up with jealousy over Bert's success
Is Sheldon (Jim Parsons) the jealous type? Of course, he is. According to the synopsis for "The Big Bang Theory" season 10's episode 9, the quirky physicist will be envious of a geologist colleague who receives the MacArthur Genius fellowship award. Now, who is this coworker of his? Well, Bert (Brian Posehn) is probably the only employee of the Caltech geology department that has a recurring role in the show, so that certainly narrows down the list.
Apparently, some plot details were leaked and Bert does indeed get the award. He also receives a $500K grant for winning it. Later, the gang hears Bert on the radio telling the boring tale of how he won the award and Sheldon decides to read the paper. Clearly, he wasn't impressed, it's Sheldon after all. While out walking with Leonard (Johnny Galecki), he loses his temper and throws a rock, however, he injures his feet while doing it.
Meanwhile, Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) finds a remote-control action figure of Stephen Hawking which everyone finds offensive. That is one strange action figure. Someone actually made a toy depicting Hawking in a wheelchair? Does it talk like him, too?
Sheldon will see Bert in the cafeteria and he will tell him that his research is good. Bert will mention that as a winner he can nominate others for a grant in the future. Unfortunately for Sheldon, Bert seems to think that Wolowitz should get a grant. Sheldon storms off, but he slips and injures his head. That's injury number two.
Later on, Sheldon will finally admit to Bert that he is jealous, and Bert will tell him about how lucky he is to have Amy (Mayim Bialik). For some reason, Sheldon decides to karate chop Bert, and as expected, he injures his hand.
Guess who's going to appear in this episode? Stephen Hawking himself. The guys will allegedly contact Hawking so he can talk some sense into Sheldon. Their little talk must be good because Sheldon and Bert will go see "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" together.
