Christopher Lloyd will take the gang "Back to the Future" in an upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory" season 10.

The actor known for portraying the role of Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the classic 1985 sci-fi movie will guest star on the Dec. 1 episode of CBS' long-running sitcom.

Details about Lloyd's character and his participation in the lives of the geeky gang, composed of Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (John Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), and their significant others, are yet to be revealed. However, the statement from the show's executive producers that was reported by Variety claims that they are very excited to work with the veteran actor. They also revealed that they managed to come up with a funny arc that fans of the show will definitely enjoy.

Cinema Blend came up with different theories about Lloyd's upcoming role in the series. According to the report, the actor could appear as himself since the main characters are avid fans of the sci-fi genre. He could also portray his classic "Back to the Future" character in a dream sequence or play a different role that has nothing to do with Doc Brown. More details about Lloyd's guesting are expected to be unveiled before the episode airs in December.

Meanwhile, a spin-off series of "The Big Bang Theory" is reportedly in the works. According to reports, the spin-off will center on the life of the teenage Sheldon Cooper. This could mean that none of the current cast of "The Big Bang Theory" is expected to be seen in the spin-off.

On the other hand, The Futon Critic released the synopsis for the ninth episode of "The Big Bang Theory" season 10. The synopsis for "The Geology Elevation" reads: "When Bert (Brian Posehn), a Caltech geologist, wins the MacArthur Genius fellowship, Sheldon is overcome with jealousy. Also, Wolowitz finds an old remote control Stephen Hawking action figure he invented."

The episode will be aired on CBS on Thursday, Nov. 17.
