'The Big Bang Theory' season 8 spoilers: Amy and Sheldon aget a turtle in episode 17 'The Colonization Application'

CBS

Sheldon and Amy are making an important announcement in episode 17 of "The Big Bang Theory" season 8 titled "The Colonization Application," and it involves a turtle. It looks like the duo's way of taking their relationship up a notch is by getting a pet together.

In the last episode, the two decided to prove the authenticity of an experimental love test they saw on television by recreating it. The test might not have made them fall head over heels for each other, but the big thing that came out of it is that they became more open to each other. The two became comfortable sharing secrets to one another, one of which is Sheldon's date of birth, which is totally a huge deal already.

But in the middle of all this, Leonard and Penny are muddled up with confusion (mostly the former as the latter is busy looking for champagne) as they ponder how they failed to see it coming.

As Sheldon and Amy go to the pet store, Sheldon reveals that he signed up for a program that will allow him to take possession of Mars. This, of course, takes Amy aback and immediately becomes upset. Sheldon reasons that an individual with his level of intellect has all the potentials to colonize the neighboring planet.

Fans can understand how Amy has nothing but disapproval on the idea. But going back to the turtle, the two leave the pet store empty-handed, not because of Sheldon's dropping the bomb but because of the turtle biting him.

Episode 17 also shows the paranoia that has gotten into Raj and how it leads him to snoop around Emily's apartment. It looks like Raj is doing his best to keep his relationship with Emily but his intentions are overshadowed by his way of accomplishing them.

"The Colonization Application" will be aired on March 5.
