"The Blacklist" season 3 pits Red against the greatest custodian of secrets. In the upcoming episode called "The Caretaker," Red will be going after a blacklister who is "holding the world's greatest secrets in a place no one would ever look."

The promo for the upcoming "The Blacklist" episode teases that this so-called The Caretaker, who looks after a safety vault for criminals, has been cooking up heinous plans of carnage behind closed doors for a long while and is now all set to show them all to the world.

This means that many innocents are about to be on the receiving end of the criminal's years of underground work, unless Red finds him in time to stop him or at least learn the horrors he had planned for the city. As always, this is just one of Red's concerns in this "The Blacklist" season 3 episode.

Liz will also be doing her own digging about her mother and will find out that Red lied about her being deceased. In previous "The Blacklist" season 3 episodes, Red told Liz that her mother was last seen walking into the ocean.

However, this may not be entirely true. Viewers will remember that in the final moments of "The Blacklist" season 3 episode 15, Red was somehow lured into an art shop, where he saw a painting of Liz standing on a grave with Red's name on it.

Red then proceeded to ask the art dealer of Liz's mother Katerina's whereabouts (referring to her as Rostova), as if he knew it was Katerina's dong and thus implying that Liz's mother is still alive and he knows it. In fact, Katerina may actually be after Red.

This may be what Liz discovered since in "The Blacklist" season 3 promo, she accused Red of lying to her. "Some things can be forgiven," she told Red. It looks like things between Red and Liz are about to be more complicated.

Meanwhile, with Liz willing to pursue a peaceful life and Red ready to help, Tom makes a risky move of going after Gina to obtain his portion of the money from the heist.

"The Blacklist" season 3 episode 16 airs Feb. 25 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
