An explosive episode is coming to "The Blacklist" season 5, which comes with a teaser that says someone won't make it out alive.

According to the synopsis for the season's fifth episode titled "Ilyas Surkov," Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) will provide exclusive information on an international terrorist with the power to level cities. This will put the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Task Force, along with Liz Keen (Megan Boone), in conflict with a rival unit from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

On the side, Red and Hawkins (Aida Turturro) will lay the foundation for a new business deal, as Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) goes undercover to find information. The season has so far been leading to a Red–Tom standoff. With the two working on each of their personal agendas in the next episode, looks like this clash is coming soon.

It would also be interesting to watch the collision course between the two big agencies — FBI and CIA. Confrontations like this have never played well in "The Blacklist" and other dramas and it is easy to imagine a far from positive turnout.

But the biggest question really is, who will die? The episode promo clearly says someone close to Liz will say goodbye in this episode. And after Dr. Nik Korpal (Piter Marek) bid farewell last week, this could be a very big blow for the series' female protagonist.

The previous episode, "The Endling," already showed how Liz was getting out of hand when she allowed major criminal Nirah Ahmad (Poorna Jagannathan) to kill herself in order to keep her sick son alive. Not only that, she also involved the unknowing Nik (before he was murdered) by asking him to operate on the son.

Despite disobeying protocol, Liz believed the end justified the means, but her boss Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) didn't think so. It looks like Liz is becoming more and more like her (maybe) father Red. The next episodes should show how this would play out.

"The Blacklist" season 5 airs Wednesdays, 8 p.m. EDT, on NBC.
