2015 is the year of the superhero in television as The CW continues to win in the ratings game with "The Flash" and "Arrow." This year also saw the premiere of "Supergirl" on CBS, which stars "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist as the titular character.

Before long, rumors started circulating that a crossover between "The Flash" and the CBS show is in the works. Aside from both characters being from the DC Comic world, another factor which seemed to solidify the possibility of a crossover was the fact that Andrew Kreisberg is the executive producer of both shows.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Kreisberg immediately shot down the rumors that a crossover is about to happen between the two shows. While the showrunner said that he toyed with the idea, Kreisberg said that there is no plan to bring one or two characters from one show into the other.

"There's always those late nights, delirious, semi-high on pizza where you're like, 'You know what would be really cool? If…,'" Kreisberg said, adding that right now, there is no legitimate plan to bring Cisco from "The Flash" onto "Supergirl" or the CBS series' Winn onto "Legends of Tomorrow."

Kreisberg said that he didn't know if it was even legally possible for them to do such an episode. As the rest of the "Arrow," "The Flash," and the "Legends" team are already challenged with making the three shows work with one another story-wise, it would seem extra daunting to put another show in the mix.

The CW had several successful crossovers as evidenced by its recent "Arrow/ The Flash" crossover specials. Last month, the network also pulled off an incredible moment for DC fans as Matt Ryan reprised his role as John Constantine in a pivotal episode of "Arrow." Earlier this year, "Constantine" was canceled by NBC, but the guest spot was made possible as both "Arrow" and "Constantine" are produced by Warner Bros. TV.

"Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS while "The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
