'The Flash' season 2 spoilers: Zoom to be Earth-2 version of Barry Allen?

"The Flash" season 1 focused on fighting Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) while season 2 has introduced the new villain Professor Zoom. The show has yet to reveal Zoom's identity, but according to a report from Bustle.com there is a current theory that speculates Zoom is actually the Earth-2 equivalent of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

In the last episode of "The Flash" season 2, Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) revealed that he created Zoom. According to the report, it is hinted that since Wells on Earth-1 created Barry Allen as the Flash, it is possible that Wells also created Earth-2's Zoom, albeit leading to different results.

On Earth-1, Wells was the villain while The Flash was the hero. It is theorized that on Earth-2 this went the other way around, with Wells being the hero and Barry Allen becoming the villain known as Zoom. How Earth-2's Flash, Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), comes into this mess has yet to be explained.

If this theory proves true and Earth-2's Zoom is indeed a counterpart to Barry Allen, it would explain why Zoom wants to eliminate Barry Allen even though his primary conflict is against Garrick. By eliminating Allen, he would be the only Barry with connections to the Speed Force in both worlds.

During the premiere episode of "The Flash" season 2, it was explained that the job and life of a person on Earth-1 may be radically different on Earth-2. This means that Barry Allen on Earth-2 might not necessarily be a good person. Since Garrick is Earth-2's Flash, this would explain what Earth-2 Barry has been up to.

However, according to a report from Movie Pilot, there are other candidates thought to be Zoom, with the second candidate being Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale). Wally is supposedly Iris' (Candice Patton) half-brother, although his full character arc has not yet been explored.

"The Flash" season 2 episode 6, "Enter Zoom," will reveal more answers on Nov. 10.
