A new character is set to appear in "The Flash" season 3, and he may cause a lot of trouble for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

TVLine revealed that a major recurring role will be introduced next season. He is described as "Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive." The character description also reveals that the new guy will grow suspicious of Barry's actions, saying that "this newcomer doesn't buy Barry's nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own."

While fans of the show know that Barry has no problems introducing his powerful alter-ego The Flash to just about anyone in the series, it does not mean that he will feel safe admitting that he is the Scarlet Speedster.

Meanwhile, actress Candice Patton told Newsweek that fans should expect to see more development regarding her character Iris West's relationship with Barry after the events that took place in the season 2 finale after the longtime friends shared a kiss and told each other their "I love yous."

"Fans are anxiously waiting to figure out if West/Allen has been erased. I think fans can rest assured, we've established on this show, Barry and Iris have a relationship that's destined. They'll find each other on different timelines and multiverses," the actress said during the Dallas Comic Con 2016 Fan Expo.

In the third season finale, Barry decided to turn back time to prevent the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother. This means that a massive change will happen if Barry will be successful in altering the past. But Patton shared that whatever happens, Iris will always have Barry's back.

"I've never needed to see them be together right away. I've always been a proponent of letting that stretch out over time, having relationships with other characters...so that when they do get together it's meaningful," the actress added.

"The Flash" season 3 is expected to premiere on The CW sometime in October.
