The wait is finally over as the Indie horror game "The Forest" is slated to launch on PlayStation 4 in 2018.

The game that was previously scheduled to come to PS4 back in 2015 is officially arriving at last, with some exciting features to make Sony players happy.

"The Forest" debuted with a brand-new trailer at last weekend's PlayStation Experience, giving players and critics a glimpse of the upcoming cannibal-slasher game.

According to Endnight Games, the game will bring players to a forest, following a plane crash. Here, they will be asked to fend for themselves. Players will learn to fish, hunt, and build forts, but surviving in the unknown would take more than a few supplies and the ability to start a fire. Flesh-starved cannibals are up and about, looking for lost souls who had the unfortunate fate to land in their habitat.

Without actual weapons, players will also have to craft their own, out of sticks, stones, trees, and whatever they could find in the primitive jungle.

As per VG247, the trailer features a good look at the game's cooperative elements, although it would not be too bad to play it solo as well. To keep communications among multi-players, it reportedly features a DualShock 4 controller as a sort of walkie talkie.

According to GameSpot, this survival game steps aside from the usual with its lack of NPC guidance. There is no storyline and no quest system, just the players' own wit and survival skills. It would be up to the player to do whatever it takes to survive until the sun rises again.

First launched in 2013, "The Forest" is currently available on Steam Early Access. While it is heading to PS4 in the spring of 2018, Endnight Games has yet to announce whether this would still be an early access or a full launch.
