After adding a new member to Alicia's team in the form of a new investigator named Alex to be played by "Extant" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, "The Good Wife" season 7 has another talent to join the political mayhems of the long-running series. Margo Martindale scores a recurring role in the series.

The Emmy Award-winning actress was chosen to portray the role of an amiable campaign operative named Willa Eastman. She is responsible for all the political successes of underdog presidential candidates in Iowa.

But something isn't right and maybe the character is a little bit too pleasant. Indeed, the lady has her secrets. Underneath all that charm is an intelligent, wily woman, which will pose a problem to Eli Gold (Alan Cummings) and his client Peter Florrick in "The Good Wife" season 7.

"Every year we look for a character and an actor who can go toe-to-toe with Eli Gold and make him blink," executive producers Robert and Michelle King said as picked up by The Hollywood Reporter. The pair went on to say why the "Justified" actress fits the bill.

"So we were thrilled when Margo Martindale agreed to play Willa Eastman. Her ability to mix comedy and drama is unparalleled. And we can't wait to see how Margo and Alan deal with each other," "The Good Wife" showrunners gushed.

According to Zap2it, Martindale's character may be a hint that Peter may truly be planning to run for president in "The Good Wife" season 7. There were rumors that Alicia's estranged husband will go down that route in the upcoming season but never really had weight until Martindale's character was introduced.

Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing what the future holds for Peter and his political endeavors but whatever may those are, it looks like Willa Eastman will be there to make sure they don't come to fruition.

"The Good Wife" season 7 will premiere on October 4.
