The new trailer for the much-awaited sequel to 2004's "The Incredibles" has made its merry-way into the interwebs, showing off new and improved heroic sequences, a shocking role reversal, and unleashing a whole generation of pent-up nostalgia.

The sneak peek to the highly anticipated animated "The Incredibles 2" made its debut airing Wednesday night on NBC.

The trailer continues where the family of supers left off, during the rise of the underminer.

It sees Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), sought out by a mysterious, rich character who wants supers back in the picture, playing the heroics, while Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) is left with home duties, looking after Jack-Jack and his recently discovered abilities.

But Elastigirl's newfound glory in the hero scene does not bode well for Mr. Incredible. It is evident in the preview footage that Mr. Incredible is far from okay seeing Elastigirl strut her way into the city doing superhuman things.

Disney officially announced the sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film "The Incredibles" three years ago. But despite the early signal, fans were not informed about the film's intimate details until 2017.

Director Brad Bird confirmed during Disney's D23 panel last year that the new animated installation will focus on Helen Parr aka Elastigirl.

Bird also discussed that although there was no substantial change timewise in the movie, fans could look forward to better graphics rendering and more fluidity in the characters' movements.

Bird, who won an Oscar directing the first film, will come back to reprise his role as the beloved hero fashion designer Edna Mode alongside Samuel Jackson (Frozone), Holly Hunter (Elastigirl), Sarah Vowell (Violet), and Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible).

"The Incredibles 2" is set for a summer unveiling this year in June.
