'The Last of Us Part 2' release date news: Actors spill motion capture shoot now ongoing

It has been two years since Naughty Dog confirmed that "The Last of Us Part 2" is in the works, although the game studio has yet to specify what year will the much-awaited game sequel be dropped. In spite of the lack of verification, the latest updates from the actors working on the game project hint that "The Last of Us Part 2" is moving along just fine. In fact, two actors involved in the title revealed through their social media posts that the motion capture for the game is already rolling.

As reported by Gaming Bolt, the actress who will reprise the role of the lead character Ellie in "The Last of Us Part 2," Ashley Johnson, posted a picture of herself donning a full motion capture gear. The photo, which made its way to the Reddit forums, was given a caption that states "If one more person says to me 'you've got something on your face,' they're getting punched." This was in reference to the motion capture equipment placed near the actor's face.

On the other hand, "Westworld" actress Shannon Woodward gave her own update regarding her latest stint in "The Last of Us Part 2" by posting a photo of herself wearing a full-body motion capture gear. Woodward's post on Instagram has already garnered positive reactions from the excited fans, although the public still has no clue on the character that Woodward is going to play in "The Last of Us Part 2."

Naughty Dog has been noticeably quiet on giving updates about "The Last of Us Part 2" ongoing production. Still, Johnson and Woodward's recent posts are enough to let the fans know that the studio is focused on developing the game. It is also likely that the sequel is now on the later stage of its development due to the motion capture shoots. Regarding the final release date of the game, it is expected that Naughty Dog will make the big reveal at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 this June.

"The Last of Us Part 2" will serve as a direct sequel to Naughty Dog's highly successful survival-horror video PS3 title in 2013. The upcoming sequel is expected to use the same tone as its predecessor, although the fans could experience new exciting changes, particularly in the gameplay per se.
