Pirate Bay update 2016: Kanye West uses piracy site?

Most users consider The Pirate Bay to be the most popular torrent download site, although the website continues to have an intermittent online presence. And although the website itself is being attacked on all sides by anti-piracy groups, TPB maintains a solid fan base. Reportedly, this fan base includes Kanye West.

According to The Guardian, West may have inadvertently shared this information on Twitter today, as the rapper uploaded an image of his computer screen as he listened to a Sufjan Stevens track.

However, the image captured the attention of the social media crowd because of another reason.

In the image that Kanye uploaded, a browser tab is open simultaneously with YouTube. The header shows that The Pirate Bay is open in the browser, and it looks like Yeezy was searching for a file that begins with "Xfe."

The image also showed that Kanye had opened a page for Serum, a synthesizer for Mac made by Xfer Records.

The news website also mentioned that another aspect of the image seems to be an ironic twist – Kanye West has to open YouTube to listen to a song when he is co-owner (together with Jay-Z) of streaming service Tidal.

Meanwhile, news.com.au observed that a double irony is Kanye needing The Pirate Bay and the details coming out just weeks after West announced he will be suing The Pirate Bay for piracy since the website allows users to download his "The Life of Pablo" album.

The charge is just another addition to The Pirate Bay's legal troubles. The torrent site continues to have an unstable presence on the web as TPB continues to struggle against being closed down by authorities. Currently, The Pirate Bay has already been banned in the U.K., while previously, its servers in Sweden were raided and closed down.
