'Walking Dead' season 6B spoilers: Carl Grimes to experience gruesome incident?

AMC

A Russian Fox affiliate may have just spoiled a major plot point regarding Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) on "The Walking Dead" season 6B. An image of Carl wearing an eye-patch was used for promotional purposes and has since been posted via SpoilerTV.

Fans of the comic books will recall that Carl Grimes is accidentally shot in the face while walkers invade Alexandria. This event forever alters Carl, turning him into a darker, more mature person that soon attracts the attention and admiration of the villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

More importantly, the first half of season 6 ended with the group attempting to flee Alexandria as zombies begin to flood into their homes. It is now speculated that the second half of the season will open with Carl receiving his life-changing injury.

According to a report from Cinema Blend, it is possible that the leaked image may be referring to something else. It is possible that Carl will not permanently lose his eye and that this may all be a result of a less dangerous accident. However, the gravitas of the injury is later implied when actor Riggs himself addresses the leaked spoiler.

"If you're posting spoilers you're getting blocked," the actor posted via Twitter, "lots of hard work from the cast and crew goes towards keeping things unreleased."

The mere fact that the actor had to respond to the spoilers leaking all over the Internet is a possible sign that Carl will indeed be shot and permanently injured.

"The Walking Dead" has been known for its violence and gore but the show has deviated from some of the more gruesome incidents that occurred in the comic books, such as Rick losing his hand and Carl his eye. However, that is all about to change as the cast recently told Entertainment Weekly just how sickening the rest of season 6 will be.

"The Walking Dead" season 6B will premiere this Feb. 14.
