'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: First trailer is out; Oct. 23 premiere date

The Walking Dead season 7 - King EzekielAMC

The first trailer for "The Walking Dead" season 7 was released during this year's San Diego Comic Con and the panel has confirmed that the season will premiere this Oct. 23. The season, similar to previous seasons, will be cut in two and the latter eight episodes will be premiering in February 2017.

The trailer spends a full minute looking into the history of the main characters while also taunting them with Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) baseball bat, known as Lucille, being waved at their faces. The trailer then cuts to Negan killing one of them, as seen in the season 6 finale, but still does not reveal who he murdered.

Other parts of the trailer showcase Negan and his group, the Saviors, battling several people although it is unclear if they are fighting Rick's (Andrew Lincoln), the Hilltop Colony or the people from The Kingdom, which was teased during the final episodes of season 6.

Jesus (Paul Monroe) is shown alive and fighting some Saviors and the trailer also showcases some members of the Alexandria Safe-Zone who are still surviving.

The biggest reveal in the trailer is that of King Ezekiel and his pet tiger. Ezekiel, played by Khary Payton, is the leader of the Kingdom and in the original graphic novel series ends up helping Rick and Jesus in defeating Negan. However, Ezekiel does have different opinions and will be at odds with Rick at some point even when they are allies.

As reported by Variety, Andrew Lincoln did confirm that Negan's victim will be revealed right from the very start at the premiere episode of season 7. This will be a stark contrast compared to what the studios did in season 6 where Glenn's (Steven Yeun) fate was dragged on for several episodes before they revealed he had survived.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere on AMC this Oct. 23.
