It has been a long time coming, but at last, the first trailer for Overkill's "The Walking Dead" video game has been released.

The trailer shows Aidan, one of the four playable characters in the upcoming game. At first, it shows Aidan as a businessman sitting on a bench while listening to voicemail. Afterwards, the scene changed to a zombie-ravaged city with Aidan holding a club and about to fend a horde of zombies. The game's setting takes place in Washington D.C.

A second clip has also been released, where the development team talks about the conceptual design behind the upcoming zombie game. It didn't reveal much about gameplay, but they did talk about the extreme efforts and hours they spent making the zombified world of the game highly realistic.

There has been a lot of "Walking Dead" games in the past, but Overkill's version is slated to be more refreshing, as the team has earlier revealed that the game is the result of their "long-term" partnership with Robert Kirkman's (Walking Dead creator) Skybound Interactive Company.

The game's vision is somewhat similar to the original comic book, and although the original cast of the franchise would hardly make an appearance in the game, it retains the sense of dread seen in The Walking Dead, albeit played by new characters.

"With focus on characters and technological advances that enable deeper re-playability than we have had in previous products, we aim to deliver a game that satisfies both the franchise's fans and hardcore gamers," the team explained.

Overkill's "The Walking Dead" can be played by single player or co-op. The game features four new playable characters, each with their own unique abilities, squad roles, background stories, and skill trees. There would be a lot of missions and raids in the game, with goals involving securing supplies and recruits to strengthen and fortify their base camp against the Walkers and other enemies.

The game is scheduled for a release in the fall of 2018.
