No one can blame fans for believing rumored release dates, especially if the waiting period is around four years already. This was the case for the upcoming book of the famed author George R.R. Martin regarding his upcoming book, "The Winds of Winter," which was speculated to be releasing this month.

Further excitement was added when Martin previously posted a new excerpt from his upcoming book. He mentioned that he decided to change the last content because it has not been changed the past year, while it also acts as a teaser for the long-overdue book.

Martin wrote on his blog, "You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait."

He added, "And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above? Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day...,"

A fan even directly asked the author about the rumors behind the May release date, to which Martin responded, "Complete crap, yes. Who makes up these stories? "

iDigital Times reported that the upcoming book may possibly contain the second battle of Blackwater. The first pitted the Lannisters against Stannis Baratheon. This time, it will be against Daenerys Targaryen with her three dragons, and her existing army of Dothraki, Unsullied and the free people of Slaver's Bay. The Lannisters will now need to defend their kingdom from an invader, a true enemy.

The second battle on King's Landing is speculated to be bigger than the previous one, and Casterly Rock will end up as a pile of ruins.

It seems that fans need to wait a little more, since up to now, the release date of "The Winds of Winter" remains a mystery.
