With Jack Pearson's (Milo Ventimiglia) death a few episodes ago on "This Is Us," fans might be complacent enough to think that things can't get any more intense toward the finale. But as finales go, fans would have to take a pause this week and focus on the foster child character named Deja (Lyric Ross), who recently surprised fans with her return on the mid-season finale.

Deja's character has been on and off the storyline for this season but, judging by the tone that is being set by the promos for the 17th episode of season 2, hers will be a story of optimism. Judging by Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) words to her, he sees himself in her, and this causes him to believe that positive things will happen for her as well.

Ross has been quite a surprise for the production staff of "This Is Us" at 14 years old. Deja is considered a breakout role for her as Randall and Beth's (Susan Kelechi Watson) foster child. It seems that in the upcoming episode, it is Randall's goal to find stability for her in order for the young woman to secure a good future for herself.

With the revelation at the tail-end of the previous episode regarding Deja and Shauna's (Joy Brunson) homelessness, the decision may be up to Randall and Beth as to they will just keep them as visitors or make a more permanent setup for them.

Episode 17, titled "This Big, Beautiful, Amazing Life," is the second-to-the-last episode for the show's second season. Spoilers are also pointing toward Kate and Toby's wedding as a major player in the events to come. However, since a lot of things still hang in the balance for the two of them, an anticipation regarding a major cliffhanger is at an all-time high.
