The third Thor movie, "Thor: Ragnarok" is still a few years away, the film being part of phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while many are excited to watch characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and others make their big screen appearances in other Marvel movies, fans of Tom Hiddleston are concerned that he won't be coming back to play Loki. The actor first played the role in the first Thor film, which premiered five years ago.

Speaking to ComingSoon, the actor said that he has no idea if Loki will make an appearance in the upcoming Thor movie or if the character will be featured in other Marvel films.

"You know, I don't know. I think I won't be able to help it if I ever play him again, and I just don't know when that's gonna happen, if that's gonna happen," Hiddleston told the website.

Loki was last seen in "Thor: The Dark World." Hiddleston reprised the role for "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," but his scene was cut from the movie.

"It's five years ago since I played him for the first time," the British actor explained. "That's a long time ago. So who knows what I'll be cooking up!"

Some have speculated that Loki's possible absence from "Thor: Ragnarok," could make room for new characters whom comic book fans are very familiar with.

Moviepilot has a list of gods who could make an appearance in the film. One of them is Tyr, the God of War. In the comics, Tyr is a one-handed god and is Thor's half-brother. Another possible character is Fenris, one of Loki's children who can shift shape from a wolf to a god. The website also added Jormungand to the list, who is also Loki's child who lives in the depths of the ocean.

"Thor: Ragnarok" premieres on Nov. 3, 2017.
