The sequel first-person shooter "Titanfall 2" has gone live. More good news has been announced for hardcore fans, as the developer confirms that the game will be free-for-play, including post-launch content.

Prior to the launch, developer Respawn tweeted that the game will not need a Season Pass. This means that DLC expansions, as well as updates, will be free. It may be a surprise for some, since "Titanfall 2" is said to be a triple-A game, and most major franchise titles only offer free minor updates, while major DLCs and post-launch content come with prices.

However, Respawn has reiterated its decision to offer free content for players. In the game's official website, the developer underscored that all contents of "Titanfall 2" are free to play. "This means once you've purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs."

The developer has also confirmed that the first free DLC is scheduled to come out later this year, including the free remastered map for Angel City. The area is a fan favorite for players of the original "Titanfall."

Meanwhile, although "Titanfall 2" is free-to-play for all players, there may still be microtransactions for hardcore fans who want some exclusive in-game items. However, it is unclear what items, gears, and weapons will be part of the feature. In addition, art director Joel Emslie said that providing microtransactions in the game is still up in the air. The studio executive told PlayStation Lifestyle, "It's not decided on yet. We're still.... here's also an element of 'Let's release the game. Let's wa–' We're working on DLC. But we still have a curiosity to see like, what type of DLC do we really focus on, rather than just chucking out some stuff that we think [players] might want."

"Titanfall 2" is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
