The original "Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters" game has been re-released, and the new version includes story expansions confirmed for at least five episodes.

The new refreshed title, "Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters: Daybreak Special Gigs" is already up for the PlayStation 3 and PS4, as well as for PlayStation Vita. The new refreshed title expands the story to an additional 10 episodes, with the five new ones added towards the end of the original plot.

However, even as a refreshed game, the new "Daybreak Special Gigs" is deemed to be a whole-new title, even with the old gameplay incorporated in it, along with the stories and characters. For one, it is confirmed that hardcore fans of the series will have to start again from scratch, as the old game saves from the original 2015 release cannot be transferred to the new title. In addition, the ported 2015 title in "Daybreak Special Gigs" has been improved, and fans will note that there are expanded cut scenes, new dialogues, and even new events in the old chapters.

Meanwhile, aside from the story, there are more new features in the re-release. "Daybreak Special Gigs" adds at least three new NPC characters. However, not all of them can be seen on the new game, since player choices and the stories branching out will play a factor into which of the new NPCs will show themselves towards the end of the game.

Even with the improvements, developer Arc System Works and Toybox have retained some of the more popular features in the series. One constant option in the new game is the sensory input feature. The same with the original "Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters" release, the "Daybreak Special Gigs" re-release also uses the system with two wheels. Unlike other visual RPGs where players are given sets of choices, the game sees the characters engaging in relationships based on both emotion and the five senses.
