Toshiba announced this week the release of the Portégé X30, a lightweight business laptop.

iTechPost reports that the laptop weighs only 1.04 kg (or 2.3 lbs), and is 15.9 mm thick. Despite its light weight, it will be a while before the laptop dies, as it is said to have a battery life of up to 18 hours.

It comes with a 13.3-inch screen, which has a full high-definition display at a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It runs on Windows 10 Pro. It has a spill-resistant and backlit keyboard, which comes with a TrackPoint nub. It comes with various security features, such as face and fingerprint recognition and hard drive encryption. It also has a smart card reader built into it. Its ports include two USB-C, one USB 3-0, and high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI). It is compatible with the Thunderbolt 3 Dock. For its sound system, it carries stereo speakers co-designed with Harman Kardon, and has DTS sound software. These come wrapped in a magnesium alloy body. It is Mil-SPEC810G certified.

It comes in different configurations, each of which has a corresponding price tag. The cheapest runs on an Intel Core i5-7300U processor, and has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB hard drive. This is priced at $1,410. Another comes with Intel Core i7-7600U processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB storage, which costs $1,577. The most powerful in the line has 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB storage, and is powered by Intel Core i7-7600U, which is priced at $1,848. While the price may be steep, the device is designed to be used by the business sector.

According to Anandtech, these new laptops are a match against Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 and Dell's XPS 13 reign supreme.

The Portégé X30 is now available for purchase online. It can also be bought from select retail stores.
