With the passing of Don Rickles last week, many are now wondering what would happen to Mr. Potato Head in "Toy Story 4" as it has been revealed that the comedian had not voiced the character in any scene for the upcoming Disney-Pixar movie sequel before his death. However, it is said that it is likely for the production team to resort into using past vocal recordings of Rickles to voice Mr. Potato Head in "Toy Story 4."

It was in the morning of April 6 when Rickles, who was known for his insult comedy in bars, died due to kidney failure, according to a statement released by his longtime publicist Paul Shefrin. As the comedian was known to be the voice behind the popular "Toy Story" character, Mr. Potato Head, fans of the Disney-Pixar animation started speculating that the character may no longer be featured in the upcoming animated movie sequel.

However, according to recent reports, it is likely for "Toy Story 4" to still feature Mr. Potato Head in the movie and use previous vocal recordings of Rickles to voice the character anew. JobLo opines that, should this really be the case, this will not be the first time for a movie's team to become creative and resourceful after suffering from an unexpected loss of a cast member. The online publication cites "Furious 7"  as an example as the said movie had its visual and sound editors working on digital recreations of Paul Walker since he was not done filming the movie yet when he died in 2013.

As of this writing, though, it remains uncertain whether it will really be the case for "Toy Story 4," which, according to reports, has been undergoing rewrites. What is certain at this point in time is that the movie will bring back Tom Hanks to voice Woody anew as it has been revealed that "Toy Story 4" will cast the spotlight on his love story with Bo Peep, who is voiced by Annie Potts.

"Toy Story 4" is slated to arrive on June 21, 2019 as it traded its original release date with that of "The Incredibles 2."
