After a horrific car accident that almost killed comedian Tracy Morgan, his attorney Benedict Morelli came out Tuesday with some hopeful news.

Morelli said at the federal court in Trenton, New Jersey last Tuesday, as reported by NJ News, "Mr. Morgan is a fighter. He's fighting to get better. And if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that. But we just don't know because of the severity of the injuries that he sustained and the fact that he had such a severe brain injury."

Last June, Morgan was riding his limousine along with his six friends when they were involved in an accident with a Walmart truck. One of Morgan's friends died due to the accident, while the actor himself suffered plenty of physical injuries and a severe brain injury. He is still recovering to date.

Right now, Morgan is suing Walmart for negligence, but the retail giant is making an argument that the injuries of the passengers were due to "failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device." Morgan didn't take this well.

Via Twitter, Morgan replied, "After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out. I can't believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back."

Elsewhere, a close friend of Morgan who is also a comedian is rooting for him to pull through. Good friend Chris Rock spoke to ET Online and shared his sentiments about what Morgan is going through.

"[Tracy] is fighting his way back. It's sad. That's my boy. We've done three movies together, so I'm hoping for the best," Rock shared.

Rock has kept in touch with Morgan since the accident.
