"Transformers" is said to be one of the most successful franchises of all time as it holds the number 10 spot in the greatest film series category, earning an estimated $1.325 million for all four films in North America alone. Last year's film, "Age of Extinction," earned more than $1 billion worldwide, and with such numbers as these, fans can look forward to more films being produced by the Hasbro Studios in the future.

While there has not been much news about "Transformers 5," it has been confirmed that a writing team has been assembled to ensure the franchise's future and that it is headed by Akiva Goldman. According to MoviePilot, joining Goldman in the writer's room are screenwriters Jeph Loeb and Stephen S. DeKnight ("Daredevil"), Jeff Pinker ("Lost"), Robert Kirkman (creator of "The Walking Dead"), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari ("Ant-Man"), and Ken Dolan and Geneva Robertson-Dworet ("Black Hawk Down").

The website reports that the writers are not only planning the fifth film in the franchise but also other titles in the future. Ideas that have been discussed for the films reportedly include a Beast Wars plotline and Optimus Prime travelling in space.

Speaking to IGN, DeKnight said that he and the other writers spent more than two weeks in the writers' room, plotting out the future of the "Transformers" films.

"It was just a room full of brilliant, funny, amazing people," DeKnight told the website. "We spent two and a half weeks in physically the best writers' room I have ever seen in my life. Paramount pulled out all the stops."

While DeKnight kept mum about what was discussed, he did say that more news about the film will be revealed and "in the next few months we'll see what moves forward and what doesn't move forward."

While it is unclear whether the script for "Transformers 5" has been finished, "Age of Extinction" voice actor Mark Ryan, who provided the voice for Lockdown, recently gave some updates about the new movie's filming schedule. According to Movie News Guide, Ryan said that filming of the fifth installment will begin next year and that the focus of the film will be split into two storylines, with one of them focusing on Mark Walhberg's character, Cade Yeager, and his companions.
