The latest "True Detective" season 2 spoilers revealed that Matthew McConaughey may come back next season.

Avid viewers may see the award-winning actor on the second season of "True Detective". The hot actor dropped some hints that he will appear again as guest star in the show.

"That was always how I saw it. One season, eight episodes, a finite beginning, middle and end, goodbye, look forward to watching it. If HBO had wanted an option on me for a Season 2 or 3, I wouldn't have done it. I wouldn't have walked into something where they could say, 'We've got you for the next three year," McConaughey told Deadline.

Matthew added that he liked the whole series and the experience of being part of the show. He also said that he is open in doing another episode. Fans would be excited as the Oscar-awarded actor exclaimed, "I don't know of a feature film I'd sign for where I'm going to say, 'If this works, you've got me whenever you want me for the next three years."

All rumors pointed to the possible casting of McConaughey in the show. This is backed up by Nic Pizzolatto's announcement that there will be three leads in True Detective's Season 2.

However, Nic Pizzolatto answered an inquiry of a fan through Twitter, "@friggenawesome One of the detriments of only having two POV characters, both men (a structural necessity). Next season..." However, Pizzolatto later deleted the tweet that sparked rumors that a woman will join the pair.

It was initially speculated that Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) was offered a lead character in the second season of "True Detective". She was described as strong and talented and is definitely up for the main role. However, reports said that Jessica Chastain was casted to be one of the female leads next season.
