By now, everyone knows that Anderson Silva has been meted a one-year suspension for testing positive for banned substances tied up with his return at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 183; and it looks like a lot of people are airing their piece.

The latest one to voice out is UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman who tells Silva that "People don't like liars."

Weidman made the remark during his appearance at the MMA Hour, where the discussion was about the unfortunate plight that the 40-year-old Silva went through. After failing multiple performance-enhancing drugs (PED) tests, Silva did not admit to taking such and instead reasoned out that the findings were a result of sexual enhancement drugs he took.

Regardless of Silva's pleas, the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) punished Silva for the offense and reversed his win over Nick Diaz. The earliest that Silva can return to the ring, if he does plan to, will be February 2016, which is when his suspension will be lifted.

As far as Weidman is concerned, Silva should have come out in the open and admitted taking the said drugs. Apparently, he does not buy Silva's story and believes that had he been honest, the respect of fans towards him would still be intact.

"If you mess up, man, just be honest. People respect that and understand it because everyone messes up. People appreciate honesty. And if you're changing your story three different times, that doesn't sound good. Just fess up," says Weidman on the matter via the MMA Hour as transcribed by MMAFighting.com.

Weidman added that Silva was lucky with the punishment he got. Had the new NAC and UFC guidelines been instilled at that time, Silva would have been out somewhere between two to four years. And had that happened, Silva may likely call it a career seeing that he is already in his 40s.

All that aside, Weidman is set to defend his title against Luke Rockhold at UFC 194 in Las Vegas, serving as a co-main event to the main setto featuring Jose Aldo and Connor McGregor.
